There are some recipes that call for marinating the ribs for some time 2 or 3 hours before you put it on the grill, which makes the meat dark and a bit too caramelized for our taste – plus, who has the time? This fast(er) version makes for tender and delicious ribs in less time. Bonus: a great DIY barbeque sauce that beats anything on the shelf. Store any leftover bbq sauce jars or airtight container; it will keep for 2 weeks.

Pork Ribs With Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe

For the BBQ Sauce
  • 8 tomatoes, peeled and deseeded, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/3 cup muscovado sugar
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 ½ cup of water
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp. smoked maldon salt
  • ½ tsp. fresh ground black pepper

For the Ribs

Directions
  1. Bring all the bbq sauce ingredients to a boil in a saucepan at medium heat. Lower the heat and simmer for about 6 to 8 minutes, then remove from fire.
  2. Once cooled, process with an electric hand mixer until well incorporated.
  3. Trim any excess fat and remove the membrane from the ribs with a sharp knife. Heat the grill to max heat.
  4. Put the 2 whole ribs on top of the grill with the bones side down. Cook on medium indirect heat for 30 minutes and each side, brushing the bone side with bbq sauce every few minutes and spraying the ribs with water every 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the ribs from the grill, place on a cutting board and cover them with a lid or metal foil. Rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
