Turron de Chocolate - Chocolate Almond Nougat

The quintessential Spanish treat, turron, is the perfect balance of crunchy toasted nuts and chewy sweet nougat. Casa de Alba’s delicious interpretation of this Spanish classic is a fantastic mixture of hand-selected, and toasted Marcona almonds, set into a chocolate nougat. Enhanced with not only chocolate but also cocoa butter and cocoa paste, for a truly intense and chocolatey experience!

The origins of Spanish turron date back to the middle ages, the creation of which we owe not to the Spaniards but to the Moors, who invaded the country in the 8th century. In addition to their architecture and language, many of their customs and traditions stayed one of which was turron.

Today turron is still a favorite treat, especially around the Christmas holidays, and is made with many of the same ingredients and methods utilized centuries ago. Composed of a mixture of sugar, eggs, and toasted nuts, turron comes in a dizzying array of flavors and textures. Some boast other nuts, in place of almonds, others have crunchy nougat instead of chewy. Casa de Alba's chocolate and Marcona almond turron are beyond reproach. With the ideal balance of flavors and textures, this delicious Spanish treat will have you reaching for seconds!

Chocolate tasted like poor quality American Easter chocolate. Texture was awful and the almonds were chewy and tasted old, like they weren't toasted at all. I do not recommend these.
