The best gourmet cheese platter provides a combination of flavors, color and textures, for a complete and pleasing sensory experience. Start with Pont L'Eveque AOC, a mellow-flavored cow's milk cheese, with pale pate, soft consistency and fruity afternotes. Next, Crottin de Champcol, a simple and delicious goat cheese from the Loire Valley - this especially goes well with white wines from the region. The Port Salut is an ancient monastery soft cheese with a deliciously tangy kick. A perfect pair for a baguette and red wines, and also for the milder palates. For a nice exotic addition you have the Spanish Manchego, a cheese that is oily and smooth and incredibly popular with everyone. Slice it almost paper thin on the plate with some olive oil drizzled on top and garnished with some sweet peppers; it never disappoints. Finish off the feast with versatile Fresh Truffle Burrata, either by itself or with some tomato and oregano for bruschetta.

Serves about 10 people with some Manchego left over for a midweek snack. Let the cheeses breathe at room temperature before serving.
