Spain’s national dish is a multicolored medley of rice mixed with assorted meats and vegetables. When cooked well, it’s tasty, rich and filling. But it’s also complicated, and can take an hour or more to prepare and cook from scratch. That’s a huge chunk out of your day, so why not try our seafood paella: premade, prepackaged, and ready to eat in under five minutes?
In Spain, there are as many paella recipes as there are villages, and blended with the rice you might find anything from chicken to rabbit to even snail. Seafood paella is particularly popular along the coast, and ours uses the finest seafood ingredients to conjure a taste of the Mediterranean: mussels, shrimp and calamari. Adding to the flavor is a delicious sauté, or sofrito, of garlic, turmeric and paprika. All of this accompanies and enriches the all-important central ingredient: thick and wholesome rice! But that’s not all. This particular dish has been specially flavored with squid ink, which adds a tang of saltiness.
Preparing this meal is as easy as popping it in the microwave for three minutes on full power. Or you can heat it in a frying pan with a touch of oil for five minutes.
