Valrhona's Noisette Gianduja is a luxurious blend of creamy milk chocolate and roasted hazelnut praline. While most Giandujas combine these main elements in 50/50 quantities, our Noisette Noir has a higher amount of cocoa mass than hazelnuts, giving it a chocolate-forward flavor profile. Pronounced (john-doo-yuh), this rich combination of chocolate and hazelnuts dates back to the 1800s. After the Napoleonic wars, cocoa was difficult to find and extremely expensive. To continue to create chocolates an innovative Italian chocolatier started incorporating a hazelnut paste into his product. The result was the delightful blend of sweet and earthy flavors that we think of as Gianduja.
