Apple Crumble RecipeIngredients for the Pie Crust1 1/3 cups all-purpose flourPinch of salt1 tsp. sugar½ stick salted butter, cold and cubed¼ cup solid shortening, cubedCold water as necessary, 3 or 4 tbsp½ tsp. apple vinegarIngredients For the Filling1 tbsp. butter½ cup packed brown sugar¾ tsp. ground cinnamon9 cups sliced and peeled Granny Smith apples3 tbsp. all-purpose flour2 tbsp. lemon juiceIngredients For the Crumble Topping1 cup all-purpose flour½ cup sugar¼ cup packed brown sugar1 ½ tsps. Ground Cinnamon½ tsp salt6 tbsp. chilled unsalted butter, cut into ½ in cubesDirections For CrustPreheat the oven to 375 F°.In a bowl mix flour with salt and sugar, then add butter and shortening, rubbing with your fingers until it looks like breadcrumbs.Put the dough in a piping bag with a large star tip.Gather together in the bowl, make an indent in the middle and add 2 or 3 tbsp water mixed with vinegar. Knead and integrate using your hands until you get a dough ball, adding more water as needed. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.Sprinkle flour to a working surface and roll out the dough with a rolling pin sprinkled in flour. Roll out enough to cover your baking pan with a little overlap.Rub oil on your baking pan and then place the pie crust, cutting any overlap. Cover with foil and beans or baking weights.Bake for 15 minutes or until the edge is just golden. Remove and rest until cooled.Directions For The FillingIn a bowl, combine the apples with the sugar and cinnamon and toss to fully coat.Heat a large nonstick pan and melt the butter on medium-low heat. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon and apples. Cook for 5-7 minutes and remove from heat.
