Nougat
Most Americans might not have heard of nougat, but this sweet European treat called Turron in Spain and Torrone in Italy is fast becoming a favorite of sweets lover everywhere. Nougat is the definition of sweet – a confection of whipped up sugar syrup, a mix between meringue and marshmallow, but with a firmer texture that can range from chewy, to soft, to firm. You’ll find nougat sometimes studded with crunchy bits of pistachios and almonds, or mixed with chocolate, or flavored with fine vanilla extract. So try them all and find what’s your favorite nougat treat!
